O2Micro Granted Patent for DC/DC Converter Architecture

June 6, 2007. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components and systems, was issued 19 claims under United States patent number 7,196,499 for its Direct Current-to-Direct Current (DC/DC) Converter power management architecture.

This patented circuitry allows power management by monitoring the current of a DC/DC converter. This voltage information can be fed back for adjustments at power input to increase efficiency. Applications include power supplies for notebook computer and other portable electronic devices.

"In addition to increasing efficiency and reducing pin count, this invention enables a smaller and more cost effective DC/DC converter design," commented Laszlo Lipcsei, vice president, O2Micro.
