O2Micro Issued Patent for Class-D Amplifier Architecture

April 8, 2009. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components, was issued 26 claims under United States patent number 7,471,144 for its Low Distortion Class-D Amplifier architecture.

This patented architecture provides a very high power supply rejection ratio. Due to its novel, integrating circuit, distortion is minimized while efficiency is improved. Class-D amplifiers are commonly used to drive loudspeaker applications.

"Compared to conventional designs, O2Micro's class-D amplifiers equipped with this new architecture provide the chief benefits of lower distortion and increased efficiency," remarked Laszlo Lipcsei, vice president, O2Micro.
