Patent for Oscillator Architecture Granted to O2Micro

July 8, 2009. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components, was issued 24 claims under United States patent number 7,515,005 for its Variable Frequency Multi-phase Oscillator circuit.

This patented architecture and method is used for Power Management Units (PMUs). Portable electronic devices rely heavily on smart PMUs to provide different power supply voltages from a single power source, usually a battery. This invention improves the system performance of multiple PMU outputs for a large range of applications.

揟his invention allows for a wide variety of portable electronic device applications without adding to the complexity of the IC in which it is embedded, thus reducing overall system cost,?remarked Laszlo Lipcsei, vice president, O2Micro.
